Lake Singkarak


Lake Singkarak is a huge crater lake at the dramatic volcanic scenery. Spread over two districts, Solok and Tanah Datar, a large lake with an area of 1000 hectares. With an area of 107.8 km², Lake Singkarak is the 2nd largest lake on the island of Sumatra after Lake Toba in North Sumatra. In addition, natural beauty, cool air and crystal clear waters of Lake Batur is a charm that is so special to visit.

Singkarak Lake is famous for its fish Bilih (Mystacoleuseus Padangensis) which is the only living species of fish in this lake. This fish is very unique because it can not survive anywhere, even in the aquarium except at Lake Singkarak.

To reach the Lake Singkarak is easy, either by using public transport or private. From Minangkabau International Airport is only taken two hours of trip.
